Date sheet Punjab examination commission for primary and elementary classes

The Punjab Examination Commission (PEC) has officially released the schedule for the End-of-Year School-Based Assessment (SBA) 2025, targeting students from Grades 1 to 8 across Punjab. This initiative, in line with the School Education Department's directives, aims to standardize and enhance the assessment process in both public and private educational institutions. The assessments are slated to occur between March 10 and March 21, 2025, with examinations conducted in two shifts: the morning session from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM (Fridays from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM) and the afternoon session from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM. The primary objective of these assessments is to evaluate student performance based on the prescribed syllabus and Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) outlined in the Academic Calendar. Following the assessment period, a Parent-Teacher Meeting is scheduled for April 3, 2025, during which report cards will be distributed, fostering transparency and collaboration between educators and parents. This comprehensive approach underscores PEC's commitment to fostering academic excellence and ensuring a uniform evaluation system across the province.

To ensure a smooth and standardized assessment process, PEC has outlined a detailed day-by-day schedule for each grade. The timetable specifies the subjects to be assessed on each day, ensuring that schools adhere to a uniform schedule. For instance, on Monday, March 10, 2025, Grade 1 students will be assessed in English, Grade 2 in General Knowledge, Grade 3 in Islamiat/Ethics, Grade 4 in Mathematics, Grade 5 in Islamiat/Ethics, Grade 6 in Mathematics, Grade 7 in Computer/Arabic, and Grade 8 in Science. This structured approach continues throughout the assessment period, covering all relevant subjects for each grade level. Schools are encouraged to follow this schedule meticulously to maintain consistency and fairness in the assessment process.

In preparation for the assessments, PEC has established a series of key activities and timelines to guide schools through the process. The Item Bank, containing a repository of assessment items aligned with the Academic Calendar's syllabus and SLOs, will be made available on March 3, 2025. Schools are required to generate question papers from this Item Bank System (IBS) by March 9, 2025. The assessment period will then take place from March 10 to March 21, 2025, followed by the marking of papers from March 11 to March 24, 2025. Report card preparation is scheduled between March 25 and March 27, 2025, culminating in the distribution of report cards to parents on April 3, 2025. This timeline ensures that all stakeholders are well-informed and prepared for each phase of the assessment process.

To uphold the integrity and effectiveness of the SBA 2025, PEC has introduced comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). These guidelines encompass various aspects of the assessment process:
  • Item Bank System (IBS): Schools must utilize their IBS login credentials to generate question papers, each embedded with a scannable QR code containing EMIS details.

  • Bilingual Papers: Except for subjects like English, Urdu, Tarjuma-tul-Quran-ul-Majeed, and Ethics, all other papers will be available in both English and Urdu. Schools have the discretion to choose the medium of instruction for these subjects.

  • Paper Format: For Grades 3 to 8, each paper will consist of two pages featuring QR codes, with marking facilitated through IBS-generated keys and rubrics. Grades 1 and 2 will undergo oral assessments divided into five sections, each carrying 20 marks, supplemented by a written question for English and Urdu.

  • Assessment of Skills: Listening, speaking, and reading competencies in English and Urdu will be evaluated separately, utilizing specific rubrics provided by PEC.

  • Optional Subjects: Schools are responsible for developing assessment papers for optional subjects, adhering to PEC's specified guidelines.

  • Monitoring and Compliance: Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of District Education Authorities (DEAs) are tasked with ensuring strict adherence to the SOPs and the established schedule. Dedicated monitoring teams will oversee the entire assessment process to maintain transparency and accountability.

  • Parent Engagement: The prescribed IBS format will be used to prepare report cards, which will then be shared with parents during the scheduled Parent-Teacher Meeting on April 3, 2025.

These SOPs are designed to create a fair, efficient, and transparent assessment environment, ensuring that the evaluation process accurately reflects student learning and progress.

For further information or any inquiries, stakeholders are encouraged to contact the Punjab Examination Commission directly at their office in Wahdat Colony, Lahore. Additional resources and updates are available on the official PEC website at www.pec.edu.pk, or through their contact numbers: 042-99260142, 147, 150, 156. Engaging with PEC through these channels will provide schools, educators, parents, and students with the necessary support and guidance to navigate the SBA 2025 successfully.

In summary, the End-of-Year School-Based Assessment 2025 orchestrated by the Punjab Examination Commission represents a significant stride toward elevating educational standards within the province. By adhering to the meticulously outlined schedule and SOPs, schools can ensure a seamless, transparent, and student-focused assessment experience. This concerted effort aims to empower every student to "اپنا مقام پیدا کر" (Find Your Place) in their academic journey, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement in Punjab's educational landscape.
